Brookings, S.D. – July 18, 2019 – Brookings Health System Foundation announced it will raffle a Benelli ultra-light 12 gauge shotgun at the conclusion of the annual Aiming to Inspire Health sporting clays fundraiser, presented by First Bank & Trust, on Thursday, Aug. 15. The raffle is sponsored by Sanford Health Brookings Clinic.

Only 250 raffle tickets will be sold, costing $20 each. In addition to the grand prize, a second prize will be drawn for a YETI Hopper cooler filled with hunting supplies. Tickets may be purchased online at brookingshealth.org/Raffle or at the Brookings Hospital registration desks. Entrants need not be present at the drawing to win.

Proceeds from the raffle and the sporting clays event will help purchase new Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgical equipment and instrumentation for Brookings Hospital. Otolaryngology, the surgical expertise that deals with conditions of the ear, nose and throat, requires specialized equipment and instruments designed for the delicate areas of the head and neck. The equipment and instruments will enable otolaryngologists to perform minimally invasive procedures for patients, including pediatric procedures like PE tube insertion and tonsil and adenoid removal for kids.

The equipment will also include a surgical platform and navigation system for image-guided sinus surgery. To avoid scars, ENT surgeons typically perform sinus procedures through a patient’s fragile nasal cavity. ENT surgeons use CT scans of the patient’s sinus cavities to create pre-operative 3D images. Those 3D images help the surgeon guide and track instruments in real-time through the patient’s sinuses. The image guidance increases sinus procedure accuracy and safety, resulting in shorter recovery, less pain and better outcomes for patients.

The Foundation encourages the community to help support ENT surgical services by purchasing raffle tickets or participating in the sporting clays event. Registration for sporting clays costs $250 per five-person team or $65 per individual. To register, please go online to www.brookingshealth.org/AIH; deadline is Friday, Aug. 2.
