Banner Engineering in Aberdeen will close by the end of the year. The plant has 311 employees and manufactures sensors.

Notice was given to employees on Thursday. Banner plans to their consolidate North American operations by expanding in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota.

The Aberdeen layoffs will be implemented over the next 10 months. The first round is expected in April or May. All production lines will be moved by December 31st of this year. The Aberdeen employees were encouraged to apply for one of the 100 open positions in Brooklyn Park.

The company closed down its operations in Huron last year but had expanded in Aberdeen. They’ve been in Aberdeen since 1989.
