1st person files for Brookings City Council

The first person has filed in this year’s city election.

Al Austreim has filed sufficient signatures to be placed on the April 9th Ballot for the position of City Council Member.

Up for election this year are the Mayor and Two City Council seats. All are three-year terms. The current Mayor is Ope Niemeyer and the council seats up this year are held by Nick Wendell and Wayne Avery.

The deadline to file petitions is Friday, February 23, 2024 by 5:00 p.m. at the City Clerk’s Office.
