16 COVID-19 deaths reported in SD Wednesday; active cases fall below 10,000

Sixteen COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday. The statewide total is now 2758.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 59 to 309. There were 6 new cases reported Wednesday, raising the total to 8038. Recovered cases are at 7681. There have been 48 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 1512 to 9771. Total cases increase by 251 to 233,692. There are 221,163 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 9 to 240.

Seventy-one percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-eight percent have completed a vaccine series and 31-percent have received a booster.
