14 COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday; active cases fall

Fourteen COVID-19 deaths reported in South Dakota Wednesday. The statewide total is now 2623.

Active cases in Brookings County decrease by 32 to 1647. There were 53 new cases reported Wednesday, raising the total to 7690. Recovered cases are at 6002. There have been 41 deaths reported in Brookings County. The County is in the “high” community spread category.

Statewide, active cases decrease by 621 to 35,534. Total cases increase by 1508 to 222,880. There are 184,723 recovered cases. Current hospitalizations decrease by 27 to 396.

Sixty-nine percent of the state’s eligible population has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. Fifty-seven percent have completed a vaccine series and 29-percent have received a booster.
